7:14 PRAYER NINETEEN

...AND HEAL THEIR LAND...

Now the Word of the Lord came to Jonah saying, Go to Nineveh, and proclaim judgment against it, for their wickedness has come up before Me. But Jonah didn't want to bring a Word to Nineveh because he thought they deserved to die. So Jonah got on a ship going the opposite direction. God sent a violent storm. He knew it was his fault so he convinced the sailors to throw him overboard. God prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah and after three days, it threw him up on the shore. Again he heard the voice of the Lord. "Go to Nineveh and tell them that in 40 days Nineveh will be destroyed." Jonah delivered the Word and the fear of the Lord fell upon them. The people repented. Even the king put on sack cloth and ashes and commanded the people to as well. God saw their hearts and did not destroy the city.

Jonah represents the Church who can be judgmental and unforgiving. Nineveh was known for her violence. Jonah thought Nineveh deserved death. What about America? Is abortion not the most violent of deaths? God hated the sins of Nineveh! BUT HE LOVED THEM!

Lord, we come before You with repentant hearts. America has called evil good and good evil, and yet YOU have LOVED US and SPARED US. Lord, baptize America with the Love of God AND the Fear of the Lord. For many know not what they do. May we, the church, represent You as agents of LOVE and MERCY and FORGIVENESS. May revival sweep the land because of an Awareness of the Father's Love!
